A STEP FORWARD
NEW CANADIAN TREATY OPTIMISTIC MINISTERS OTTAWA, Dec. 22. Addressing Canadian manufacturers at Montreal, Mr. P. Moloney, Australian Minister of Markets,' staid he would recommend in Australia .that whenever they could buy from Canada they should ‘“go the whole distance.” He stated that the new CanadianAustralian treaty still awaited the vote of the two Cabinets.
Mr. Fernie, the British Columbia Minister of Trade and Commerce, speaking at Montreal, said the now trade agreement with Australia which, he hoped, would be ratified by the Parliaments of the two Dominions, marked a step forward in .the opening of a new eru for the Empire.
