DEFENCE DEFEAT NOMADS Due mainly to (ho batting of J. Scholium, 11. Nicolson, and T. Atkinson, Defence secured a victory over Nomads by a margin of 37 runs on the first innings. Lockett and J. C. Dow were thy only batsmen for Nomads who made anything like a stand. The opening pair for Nomads were Clifton and Lockett, who put on 41 before tbe former was dismissed for 11. Dow then joined Lockett, and together they carried the score on to 94 before the partnership was broken. Lockett’s total of 63 included two sixes and a number of fours, and Dow, who made 50, had one six to his credit. Four was the highest score amongst the remaining batsmen, and file score stood at 143 when the last wicket fell. King, for Defence, took four wickets for 24. and R. Scholium three for 47.
