CITY HALL FUNCTION ARTISTIC DECORATIONS Considerable artistic taste was in evidence at the City Hall to-day when the Gisborne branch of the Young Women s Christian Association conducted a fair in aid' of the general funds, and the charming decorative scheme was the subject of much appreciative comment. The function was organised by tlie Gisborne board of directors, and in the venture the board bad the assistance of a large number of members of the association and 'others' interested in th» movement. The hall was divided into a number of “rooms,” each well-stocked with an attractive array of useful articles and novelties, and each decorated and arranged in a manner which was very pleasing to the eye. , l'he association was indebted to the generosity of a large number of supporters who donated a large propovtoin of the goods and articles with which the stalls were stocked, and the articles provided met with a ready sale.

The luncheon and tea rooms upstairs were beautifully decorated with vases of flowers, Ibiefly Iceland poppies, and there refreshments were served in a dainty and attractive manner. Flowers in profusion were to'be seen also in (be main part of the, ball, and (be “garden'' from which were sold bundles of beautiful blooms, was a- feature of the fair.

The following were in charge of the stalls: Flower garden, Mesdames Blackburn, A.’ T. Coleman, Dunlop', and 'McKee; produce, Mrs. S. 11. Phillips and Miss Wait; work room, Mesdames Clare. Richards,' Reynolds, Thornton, and Anderson, and Miss Currie; sweet stall, members of the basketball club; sunporch, nursery, and Christmas tree, Mcsdames Witty, Parnell,- IKirglss, and Kendon; bathroom, Mrs. Cole and the F.C.S. Club girls; kitchen, pantry, and larder, Mesdames J. S. Fluids, E. A! Hutchinson, Faulkner, L. M. Cot tori] I, W. R. Darker, and D. W. Coleman: Cakes, Mesdames W. Robertson and F. TT. Lawton and Miss AlcAra ; luncheon and afternoon tea rooms, Alesdaines 11. T. Tiiodey. Balfour. Stevenson, Oakden, Parker. Hunt, Bavliss, Sparrow, Collett, and Martin, and Misses Winter and Meredith. The function will bo continued this evening with a concert programme of orchestral selections, arranged by Ah'. deLisa'c. and community folk dancing, arranged by Aliss Jean Bassett.
