Herbert A. Steadman, a barrister, ageh't for the company, giving evidence concerning the negotiations witli the accused and his uncle, and the elaborate secrecy insisted upon by Crawford, said that when eventually an envelope containing the secret formula was opened the directors ot the company found that it contained cily a statement that the formula i\as hidden elsewhere. Demolish litmus given by the accused were unsuccessful.
