WOMEN PILOTS
ROUND AUSTRALIA PLIGHT G OULU URN', Oct. 30. Five of the entrants for the Goulburn Aero Club’s £IOOO round-Australia flightfor women pilots qualified for their pilots’ licenses at the official examinations. They were Misses Mario Archer (Gaulburn), Mollio Branch (Sydney), Ootgrave (Leura), Griffith (Melbourne), and Mrs. Davies (Canberra). The tests were supervised by Major Murray Jones, of the Civil Aviation Department, who paid a tribute to the excellent judgment shown by the women and the skilful manner in which they handled their ’planes. Tests included Jive “figures of eight’’ and landing >vidling 50yds of a specified mark. A sight test involved* landing, from an altitude of 6000 ft, without tho use of the engine, within 50yds of a, set mark.
