ALLEGED INTEREST SOL GREEN’S SON MELBOURNE, Oct. 29. Alleging Hurt he lutd been charged Jiarsh and unconscionable rates of interest —as much as .100 per cent. —• •Robert J. Green, of Bark street, St. Kihla, a son of Mr. Sol Green, the well-known sportsman, brought an action in the Banco Court today against Esther Cohen and David Leon Abraham, of' Collins street, Melbourne, trading as J. M. Cohen, money-lenders.
The statement of claim set out that Green had borrowed various sums of money at various rates of interest from the defendants since 1923. In December last year the .defendants claimed £393 in respect of these loans and interest.
lie asked Mr, Justice Lowe <o reopen the transaction, and sought an order for the repayment, of interest which he alleged he had been unfairly charged. ’ The defendants denied that they had charged the rate of interest alleged, and further denied that their charges were harsh and unconscionable. They eounted-claimed £393, which they alleged was fairly due to them.
Harry W. Buckley, accountant, said that in April, 1927, Mr. SOI Green settled up £2OOO of bis son’s debts.
