FINANCE FOR N.Z.
INEQUITABLE POLICY REFLEX OF AUSTRALIA (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received April 16. 2 p.m.) LONDON, April 15. The Chamber 'of Commerce’s Australia and New Zealand committee, discussing the financial situation, examined a. suggestion that, the policy sometimes operated inequitably, and whether an injustice was done to New Zealand, which had a favorable trade balance of £7,000,000. The committee expressed the opinion that as the same banks were working in both countries it would he difficult to earmark funds for purely New Zealand business. The fact that, some hanks commanded larger trade in produce to some extent- answered the complaint that some traders were more equitably served. Nevertheless, it was impossible to say whether the hanks ccmld avoid discrimination if it existed. The committee would continue to watch developments.
