There was a satisfactory attendancp at the meeting of lady supporters of the Poverty Ray Agricultural and Pastoral Association held last evening to consider the best means of assisting in the success of the forthcoming carnival in aid of the association’s funds. Mrs. J. A. Fivers presided, and much valuable groundwork was completed. Arrangements for the carnival ball on June 3 were discussed, find several ideas were put forward for making the function particularly attractive, u, buffet supper being suggested as a novelty likely to please patrons of the hail. In connection with the carnival proceedings in the Garrison Hall, stalls were allocated, and stallholders appointed, a good measure of assistance being available for Die conduct of this effort. The progress made by the ladies’ committee was most encouraging.
