Arising out of the belief that he was being victimised in non-engagement- for work on the waterside, Thomas Farley, ;j member o! the Waterside Workers Union, appeared in the Magistrates Goiiri to-dav on charges of assaulting a foreman and: using obscene language. The defendant alleged that victimisation bad been taking place for three months The assault took place when tlm lore man refused defendant work in place of a sick man. Defendant was convicted on both charges, and lined £1 lor assault and ordered to come lip lor sentence il called upon within six months lor obscene language.
