BIBLE IN SCHOOLS
ALTERED CONDITIONS PROTEST IN AUCKLAND (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. A deputation from the Council of Christian Congregations -to-day protested to the, Education Board against a circular recently issued by the board prescribing the'conditions under which Bible reading in schools under the Nelson scheme should be carried out. The spokesman asked that the board help ministers to carry on under existing conditions until they had an opportunity of carrying the matter to the highest court of appeal. They intended to request the Education Minister to secure an interpretation of the Act from ihe Solicitor-General. The hoard decided, subject to legal confirmation, that if parents do not want children to attend Bible classes they must send a. note lo teachers lo that effect.
