AUSTRALIAN PROPOSAL t> VICTORIAN OPPOSITION (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received April 16, 2 p.m.) MELBOURNE, April 16. The Associated Banks of \ ictoria oppose the Federal Government’s proposal to establish a central reserve bank on the ground that the time is inopportune, and that such a measure would hamper the hanks’ ett'orts to assist the Federal and State Governments. It is pointed out that a reserve bank could do no more at present than the Commonwealth Bank is doing.
