REVOLT IN ANGOLA
DRASTIC CONSEQUENCES OFFICIALS DEPOSED (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received Afiril 15, noon.) CAPETOWN, April 14. A short-lived revolution in Angola colony led to drastic, events. The High Commissioner, Senhor Camarra left Luanda to visit Btjnguella. His ex-secretary, Senhor Sarmento. assumed responsibility and issued orders to Colonel Almeida, chief of the military, who refused to obey, upon which Senhor Sarmento led an armed party to arrest Colonel Almeida. Senhor Sarmento was fatally shot. Senhor Camarra, believing that Senhor Saramento had been killed by mutinous troops, armed natives with a view to restoring order, and sent a wireless message to a gunboat to intercept steamers from Luanda. Lisbon sent wireless instructions to close Loanda to the liner Africa, which was expected there. It has deposed both Senhor Camarra and Colonel Almeida, and i> sending out new officials. A wireless operator was imprisoned for refusing to obey orders. One native soldier was killed.
