EXHIBITION PLANNED
WELLINGTON’S CENTENAEY (t'nr Pthsb Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The holding of an intemaiioiial exhibition in 1940 to celebrate tin* centenary of Wellington, was decided on yesterday by a representative meeting of citizens. The Mayor, Mr. G. A. Troup, who called the meeting, said 1940 was some time off, but it was necessary to iet others know that Wellington intended to hold an exhibition. The other cities had all had a turn and it was Wellington’s turn now. Mr. Spence, secretary oT the Dunedin exhibition, had offered to supply all data concerning the organisation and control of that exhibition for 150 guineas. It was decided to ask the City Council to vote this sum for the purchase of the data. The Mayor was authorised to take the steps necessary to proceed with the project.
