"TWO-UP" SCHOOL RAID

INCIDENT IN SYDNEY PLANES AID DETECTIVES (Received April 14, 11 a.m.) SIDNEY, April 14. The ingenuity of the police resulted in the discovery of a, large gambling school at Redfern. An aeroplane was used to direct detectives to a place, in some scrub, where, a large number of men were playing "two-up" in a cleverly camouflaged ring. The school was barricaded with wire entanglements in which branches of scrub were twined. Upon the approach of the police, scouts posted round the ground began to wave white cloths, and then smoke screens were sent up and the men were soon fleeing in all directions. Planes, flying low, joined in the chase. Light men were arrested. Many articles of clothing, and two bicycles were left behind by the decamping gamblers.
