EXAMINATION FOR FOREMEN (Special to the Herald.) WELLINGTON,, this day. . A number of road foremen and overseers employed by local bodies throughout New Zealand have pnssed examinations set by the Main Highways Board to test their knowledge of modern road construction. A further examination is to be held in June. Candidates have to demonstrate their knowledge of the, various forms of road construction, materials, and the best methods of maintenance. Thev are also required to read bridge and other plans. This test is being encouraged not only by the board, but by most of the local authorities, as it leads to more effective work, and more economical methods of construction and maintenance of tho roads of the country.
