Mr. and Mrs. A. 11. Wallis, of Gisborne, are on a visit to Napier. Miss Norma Wilson, of Gisborne, is at present on a visit In Hastings. A car-load of people left Opoliki on Wednesday evening on the way to the Public Works Department’s road-works in the Upper Wainekn. Soon alter passing the Opoliki dairy factory the steering gear of the. car, which was a very old model, w f, nt' wrong, with the result that the car crashed into tho railing ol the small bridge. Most- of the occupants escaped practically unhurt _ and were later able to continue their journey. Mrs. Gage received injuries to the head and sull'ered from shock. She was admitted to the Opoliki Hospital, hut. her injuries were not, serious. Ihe ear was fairly badly damaged,—Guardian.
