DEPOSITS AT REPONGAERE PROPOSALS FOR WORKING On a number of occasions the possibilities of working lime deposits at Repongaerc for use on Poverty Bay pastures has been brought before the local Farmers ’ Union, and to-day if was decided to make further investigations into tho matter, mention being made of the formation of a company to work the deposits. Mr. J. C. .Field, who brought the matter up, mentioned the bonetits pastures derived from dressings of lime. He quoted a Matawai man who had dressed with crushed lime and other fertiliser and had had splendid results, while later when he topdressed with manure only the results were not nearly so pleasing. He urged that a committee of two or three should, be tormed to dismiss with the Public Works Department the prospects of producing burnt lime at Repongaerc. It could be proved that lime could be produced as cheaply there as anywhere else in the Dominion. * The president, Mr. F. S. Bowen: Who is going to start a company?
