PARNELL BY-ELECTION
INTEREST INCREASING AID TOR CANDIDATES ' (Special to the Herald.) AUCKLAND, this day. Now that three official candidates have been chosen, events in connection with the Pamell by-election wear an interesting complexion. There will be no dearth of seasoned campaigners to sponsor the cause of the various candidates. An advance guard of Cabinet Ministers -who are expected to participate in the contest will arrive from Wellington this morning in the person of the Hon. W. A. Veitch, Minister of Labor. It is stated that Mr. Veitch has a large amount ofi official business to attend to, and will probably remain in Auckland' until Monday. Local members of the United Party, however, hope to persuade the Minister to remain a little longer in order to speak at Mr. W. H. 'Donald's opening meeting on Tuesday evening. Five other Ministers are expected to be in Auckland at various stages during the campaign, but no dates for their visits have been arranged yet. Mr. T. Bloodworth is not to be left to wage a lone-handed fight in Labor's cause. Mr. M. J. Savage. M.P.. who is organising the Labor campaign, said that it was expected that Mr. H. h. Holland. M.P., leader of the Labor Party Mr. P. Fraser, MP., and Mr. W (Nash,, M.P., would all visit Auckland during the last week of the campaign. THE REFORM CANDIDATE MR. W. P. ENDEAN SELECTED (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND. Inst night. At a meeting of Reform Party delegates in Parnell electorate, Mr. \\. P. Endean, barrister and solicitor, and a well-known yachtsman, was selected as the partv's' candidate at the byelection. Three ballots were necessary and, when the result was announced, Mr/Endean was congratulated by the three other aspirants. * The meeting expressed continued confidence in the Reform Party and its leader.
