DRUNK IN MOTOK CAR (Por Press Association.) TE AROHA, last night, Albert Hirst, a fanner, of Elsto'w, was charged before Mr. F. W. PJatts, S.M., to-day with having, while in a state of intoxication, driven a motor car in such a manner as to collide with Mary Fitzgerald, aged 70 years, severely injuring her. Defendant, pleaded guilty under extenuating circumstances. The police called five witnesses, who gave evidence that accused was under the influence of liquor at the time of the accident. The magistrate said it was clear that the accused, who was returning from the Pacroa races, had been drinking regularly 'during the day. A line of £BO was imposed and the license was cancelled lor two years. Fines aggregating £SO wore imposed on 20 motorists charged with speeding.
