ENGAGED?
LIB.-LAB. WOOING MAY NOT WED LONDON, March 29. The banns of the Liberal-Labor political marriage may yet. be torbidden, but at present arrangements are progressing smoothly. Whereas Labor’s position hitherto had been very shaky, with an eleclion possible at any lime in 1930, it now seems safe for two years, and may retain office for the full five years. The Imperial Conference will therefore have Labor hosts for the •first time. Apart from the matter of closing up the free trade ranks, the Liberals apparently offered not to vole against Labor, but the return to be given for tha4 abstention has not been disclosed. It may be associated will) the Liberals’ electoral reform schemes. Mr. Lloyd George has again conquered and calmed his own turbulent ranks, the Liberals hawing been hitherto the most disruptive party in the House, which is saving a good deal.
