MONEY “GONE WEST”
A BANKRUPT CHEMIST (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. An adjourned meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of Percival Cecil Fraser, chemist, Kilbirnie, was held yesterday. The previous meeting had been adjourned to enable a report to be obtained from a public accountant on bankrupt’s books and business. After tin l accountant’s report had been read, the Official Assignee asked Fraser why he had nut kept a. record of his transactions since August. Bankrupt replied that he had not been receiving much money during that? time, and was paying cash for all goods received. The Official Assignee commented that a lot of bankrupt’s money had “gone west.” It had not gone to his creditors, who wanted to know where it had gone. The position was most unsatisfactory, in the speaker’s opinion, and the matter should be submitted to the Crown Prosecutor to see whether further steps could be taken under the Bankruptcy Act,
He proposed to take that course. The meeting was then adjourned.
