WHAT TO DO WITH APPLES Cut them in rings, without peeling or coring them, and fry with bacon or sausages. Remove centres, (ill with sausage meat, and bake. Serve as salad, by mixing with cooked butter beans and celery, and serving with border of cress. Make into sandwiches, by chopping with celery, mixing with a little mayonnaise, and placing between, brown broad and butter. Serve as an appetiser with lemon juice, chopped nuts and a little chopped olive, or a few capers. Make into a sauce, to be eaten with sausages, pork, duck, goose, or bacon.
Pool, core, and slice thickly, and fry in a mixture of an ounce of butter, three ounces of caster sugar, the juice of a lemon and the grated rind of half a lemon. \
