OFFICERS INSTALLED FUNCTION AT WAIROA The half-yearly installation of olhcers of Lodge No. .78, 1.0.0.I I ’., took place on Saturday night in the Masonic Hull, Wairoa. N.G. Bro. R. W. Good ley presided over a large attendance of members, including 20 visiting brethren from the Star of Gisborne, Tokomaru Bay, Star of Napier, and Mangapapa lodges. The installation ceremony was performed by D.D. Grand Master Bro. G. W. Milton. of Gisborne, assisted by P.G. Bro. L. Stevens and a number ol' officers lrom the Gisborne lodges. Officers were installed as follow: P.G., Bro. R. W. Goodley; N.G., Bro. J. Philson ; V.G.. Bro. G. Lindslroin ; llec. S'oc., Bro. G. Johansen ; treasurer, P.G. Bro. I). Glengarry; E. Sec., Bro. L. Stevens; warden, Bro. E. Nilisoii; conductor. Bro. J. Mole; chaplain, Bro. V. Lancaster; R.S.S.. Bro. M. i’ere; L.L.S.. Bro. It. Smith; R.S.X.G., Bro. R. S. Paterson; L.S.N.G.. Bro. 0. Hawley; R.S.V.G.. Bro. B. Dimum; L.S.V.U., Bro. It. Dnvey; J.G., Bro. S. Baku; 0.G., Bro. 1. Simpson. Alter IJ IO ceremony a warm welcome was extended to I*. D.D.G.AI.’s Bros. H. Itolili (Gisborne) and E. Newbegnt (Napier), D.JI.G.M. Bro. Milton (Gisborne.), and the remaining visitors. Bro. Goodley expressed pleasure at the large attendance, and the interest displayed by the visiting brethren in the activities of the Wairoa lodge. Replying. Bro. Milton congratulated the lodge on the steady progress which it had made, and said he predicted a great future for the Wairoa. lodge. He was greatly impressed with the liowiyiuslalled officers. Bro. Philson relumed thanks, extending a hearty welcome tp tin: visitors, whom ho wished to convey similar greetings to their respective lodges. A Past Grand’s jewel was presented by Bro. Robb, on behalf of tho order, to Bro. L. Steven, who, he said, had proved himself-an efficient officer and a credit to the Wairoa lodge. He was a capable worker, and the speaker said the jewels of higher office would eventually come bis way. Bro. Stevens expressed his thanks for tho gift, stating that it had been a pleasure to assist the lodge. At the conclusion of the ceremony an adjournment was made to Osier’s rooms, where dinner was served. Toasts were honored as follow: “The King,” “Grand 1/odge,” proposed by P.G. Bro. Glengarry and responded to by P.G.M. Bro. Robi), who gave a most interesting account of his recent visit to Brisbane as one of the New Zealand delegates to the Grand Lodge session there; “Newlyinstalled Officers,” proposed by, P.D.D.G.M. Bro. Newbegin, and responded to- bv V.G. Bro. Lindslroin; "Installing Officers,” by P.G. Bro. A. T. Ckirroll, and replied to by D.D.G.M. Bro. Hilton; “Visiting Brethren,” proposed by P.G. Bro. B. IT. Ingoe and responded to by P.G. Bro. Oates (Tokomaru Bay), who gave an interesting speech on I lie beueiits of Oddfollowship ; “Kindred Societies,” proposed by Bro. Lancaster, and replied to by P.G. Bro. Fletcher (1.0.0. F.. M.U.), I’.C.R, Bro. G. Mayo (Foresters), A.D. Bro. L. Ebbitt and Bro. 11. Ashby (LJ.A.O.D.); “The Press,” proposed by Bro. L. Stevens and replied to by Bro. 11. E. Stanton.

Musical and vocal items were contributed by Bros. Foster, Ingoe, Lancaster, Saba, Philson, Roberts, and Stanton, and a most enjoyable evening was brought to a. close with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
