MOTORING FATALITY
UNUSUAL POSITION DRIVER DIES SUBSEQUENTLY (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. An inquest was opened this morning by the coroner, Air. P. K. Hunt, S.M., into the death of William Francis De Malmanche. The cause of death i.s thought to have, been compression on the brain. De Malmanche owned a farm of 900 acres at Mfitiere, near Taumarunui. On February 4, he and his wife, with some friends, were motoring up tin 1 hill between Matierc and Okahukura, when, at a slight bend on the top, car shot over the bank and dropped about 250 ft. into the river. Mrs De Malmanche died four days later. Iter husband also was injured, but he apparently recovered, and lately had lived in Auckland. Evidence was given this morning by Robert Andrew De Malmanche that his brother was born at Christehureh 57 years ago and was .survived by six children. His father was still alive, aged 88 years. A post, mortem will be held to ascertain definitely the cause of death. Mr. Hunt said that he would write to the coroner who held the inquest over Mrs De Malmanche and it would probably save any further inquiry being held at this end as a. similar verdict could be returned if it were found that death "was the outcome of the accident.
