SHOOTING TRAGEDY
MISHAP IN BUAHINES FARMER KILLED (Per Press Association.) DANNEVIRKE, this day. A fatal accident occurred yesterday in the rugged hill country of the Ruahiues at the back of Apiti, when Ivo Cummerficld, 32, a fanner, received a rifle bullet in the thigh. Deceased, with a companion, Albert Dick, left on a deer-stalking expedition two or three days ago. Pick reached Tabic Flat after an arduous race through seven miles of bush with the news of the accident. A relief party went out and a doctor and police followed, v but on returning to the scene Cummerueld was dead. Before leaving deceased for assistance, Dick did all he could to staunch the wound.
The-body has been brought several milcis from the snowline in the Bliahines, where the fatality occurred, and the remainder of the journey will be undertaken today. Constable Ferguson, of Kiinboltoii, is remaining in charge.
