Two storeys will shortly be added to Grosvenbr buildings, iii future to bo known as Kpworth chambers, the property owned by the Methodist Church, in Christehureh. The tender is stated to be about. £14,000. At 3.45 p.m. to-day, tho Fire Brigade received a call to Mr. D. B. James' residence, 317 Stout street, the washhouse being in flames. At the moment of going, to pj,-ess the laigade was reported to have the flames under control, and it was not anticipated That the damage would bo very extensive.
