WOOL.

(To the Editor of tho Herald.) Sir,--Your correspondent "Back NumIber" has added little to the subject under discussion except a most appropriate' title for such a letter. Mr. Faucctt, tho Government economist, has stated that the lowest cost of growing wool in Poverty Bay was 9d per lb, and it cost some, growers as much as, Is 6d per jib, to grow. At the present moment (wool is just one half of'what it was last year, and "Pack Number" is the only person in New Zealand who thinks I tie farmer is having a square deal—that is if he does really think so. If "Back Number" has sold washed wool at 63d per lb., it, does not prove he can do it here under present conditions. No, sir, lhi> farmer is being badly exploited, by more combines than cme, and the sooner an effective remedy is applied the better. Yours, etc.. / FRANCIS STAFFORD.
