FRITZ HOLLAND'S CLASSES

There is at present a boom in the boxing circles in this district. Mr. Fritz Holland's arrival here to open schools oil the East Coast, following on Tom Heeney's success in winning world-wide fame and upon the Poverty Bay Boxing Association's highly successful tournament, has whetted the keenness of sporting folk. Many Qisborne lads arc enrolling with the instructor, and it may be necessary to divide the classes. Tokomaru Bay and Tolaga Bay are doing their best to further the scheme, and HOW Te Karaka is coming into Mr. Holland's circuit of schools. ' The first lesson wilj be' given at To Karaka on Tuesday night. The benefits of the honorary membership scheme are now becoming apparent. Boxing instruction is now as availablo to poor boys, as it is to the lads of wealthier families. There are more than 30 boys in the Qisborne class who are receiving free tuition. The list of honorary members also is steadily growing. Another feature which Mr. Holland trie's to foster is friendly rivalry between th~e schools; not only in proficiency, but also in regularity of attendance and in deportment. The boxing authorities are said to be more than pleased with the conduct of the classes and Mr, Holland's methods of teaching the art.*
