U.S. SMOKING MORE
CIGARETTES FOR "SLIMMING" The In test official figures recorded by the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Washington, shows that throughout the United 'States during September 1,000,000 more cigarettes were smoked each hour than in the corresponding month of 10128. 'This tremendous increase is principally due to the increased cigarettesmoking among women, who, in the interest of slimming, are making the cigarette a substitute for eating between meals. No fewer than 10,400,000,000 cigarettes wore consumed in September.
