INTEREST IN EUROPE MANY INQUIRIES MADE (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Asan.) (Received Dee. 31, 11 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 30. The New Zealand Publicity Branch reports "Trnprecedcnted interest in New Zealand affairs, scenery, industries, and produces, throughout Europe, particularly'Germany, Holland, and Belgium, whence there arc many inquiries from newspapers for photographs A German periodical- published a page of scenery and. Maoris, in which they are specially interested. They also are greatly interested in flax. The department has over 500 photographs circulating on the Continent, in addition to supplying Belgian, German, and Dutch syndicates with educational films and lantern slides, resulting in a rapid increase in demands for honey and apples. New Zealand is not troubled in placing films in England, although they arc silent. Mr. 11. T. B. Drew, publicity officer, stated that they arc showing on the average ill 15 theatres a day throughout the year, mostly in the provinces, despite the fact'that they arc neither talkies nor sound films. Many managers say the public prefer silent pictures.
