RADIO TRANSMITTERS
AN EMERGENCY SERVICE (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. A conference in connection with the first Dominion convention of the New Zealand Association of Radio Transmitters .was held on Saturday. Mr. H. P. V. Brown, of Christchurch, who was voted to the chair, welcomed the delegates. Great interest attached to a discussion of the proposed relay chain of stations throughout New Zealand for the purpose of coping with any emergency that might arise. A scheme formulated by Mr. .1. S. Waite, general secretary, was analysed. This provided for tho establishment of four district stations under the control of a master station, which would maintain watch, and carry out relaying of messages from different parts of the country. The proposal was adopted with the recommendation that individual districts should organise some sort of competitive scheme in order to stimulate interest in the movement. Mr. T. 11. Clarkson, ,of the Post and Telegraph Department, Auckland, was elected president of next year's conference.
