In order to provide a bountiful supply of fresh and healthy debutantes, who will keep their engagements punctually and go to bed at a reasonable hour, hundreds of American mothers have conferred and made recommendations which, it is believed, will be accepted generally. In the national campaign now'being organised it is recommended that,: — 1. Dinner shall begin at 8 p.m. ■ . 2. Gxiests shall sit down promptly., 3. Dances shall begin at ,10 p : Jn.j 4. Supper shall be served at midnight. 5. Closing - time shall be from 2'. to 3 a.m. ■-,-".. , . In previous years parties have been prolonged-until'4-arid 5 a.m., with the result that young busjness men are unfit next day for their work, and mbs't of' the eligible bachelors .have . recently been conspicuous by their absence from affairs arranged by debutantes'or debutantes' mothers.
