BOXING DAY SPORTS

KAITARATAHI MEET INTERESTING EVENTS VERY SUCCESSFUL GATHERING Amateur and professional athletic, horse, dancing, and miscellaneous events provided interesting entertainment at the seventh annual meeting of the Kaitaratahi Sports Club, held yesterday. The weather was perfect and the track was in splendid order. There was a largo attendance of the public, and the club should benefit considerably as a result of the fixture. Most of the amateur athletic events attracted good entries, and some splendid finishes were witnessed. The trophies were fairly evenly distiibuted, no amateur competitor gaining more than one win with the exception of .Miss Flanagan, who annexed I lie 75yds and 100yds ladies' handicaps. In the professional events S. Good) demonstrated his superiority among the cash cyclists ol Poverty Bay by winning the one, two, and three-mile cycle handicaps from scratch. Ho won easily in each race. 11. Twiglcy won the 135yds Sheffield handicap, and W. M. Thomas led the field home in the furlong sprint. K. Bradley annexed the quarter-mile. The horse events were of outstanding interest to the country patrons, and in some events there were from 12 to lb 1 entrants. Some particularly tine performances were witnessed. C. FT.
