THE ORONTES

MAGNIFICENT VESSEL NOVEL FEATURES FREMANTLE, Nov. 26. On her first- visit- to Australia, the Orient. Co.'s new liner (Ironies berthed at- Fremantle, this morning. To complete a. programme arranged for the vessel's visit, to eastern States’ ports it was necessary for her to >reach Fremantle to-day—one tla.y ahead of her schedule time.—and officers. stated that the, requirement was met without discomfort, and the vessel could have been earlier if it had been desired. The new Orontes, which will replace the Osterley in the Australian trade, is one of the finest vessels that lias visited Fremantle. In every conceivable manner the comfort and convenience of passengers have been considered, apart, from the general tasteful lay-out of the vessel, in which she differs from other new vessels of the Orient, Go.’s fleet in only small details. The Obontes has a number of novel features. The first-class dining-room is designed in a style representing 17th century English Renaissance decorative art and, in addition, a- private diningroom, tastefully furnished and elaborately decorated, can be reserved for private dining parties. There is a special nursery and nursery dining-room for children, who, are also permitted to share with adults a, spacious sports deck where 16,500 square feet are available for games. In that space there is ample room for 12 permanent quoitrinks, two permanent deck tennis courts, and two completely netted-in tennis courts. An open-air swimming hath at one end of the promenade deck is allot her novelty. The third-class accommodation is unique in the history of the Orient Co., as, in addition to other improvements, there arc available two-berth cabins with port-holes. The public rooms in third-class are more comfortable than those on any other vessels of the fleet. The Orontes, which cost about E 1,000,000 to build, has accommodation for 500 first-class and 1100 third-class passengers
