DEMAND FOR CARS
BRISK. SUMMER SALES (Special to the Herald.) < CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The motoring urge is as strong, as ever this summer, and the sales figures for new and used cars show that a big volume of business is bein<* done bv the various motor firms of Chnstcnurcn. The motor registration branch at the Chief Post Office has been busier this summer than ever before. Since the beginning of October registration figures in Christchurch alone have averaged 14 new cars a day. The relicenses have averaged nine a day, and transfers 17 a day. The registration of new motor cycles has averaged three a day, and relicenses the same number. One firm quitted 45 used cars in October and November! and another firm, which averages not far off 30 a month, has .sold over 80 itsed cars in the two months. : . /Prices are very low for used cars rit the present time, and the public has discovered that the good reconditioned car ‘ thousands of miles of usefulness before it i* a good buying proposition.
