MEETING- OF BOARD fHerald Correspondent.' The monthly meeting of the Matakuoa Hospital Board was held at Te Araroa, Mr. C Williamson presiding in the absence of the chairman, Mr. G. McKedfiie. There were also present: Messrs. A. E. Kemp, O. R. Ei. Wood, G. L. teaser, S. B. Rudlaud. M. W. Halliwell, and C'H. Olarek. The Medical Officer of Health, Dr. H. !',. Turbo tt, wrote expressing his displeasure at the'board's decision to discontinue the district nursing service, and urged the board to reconsider the matter.—lt was resolved that the board could not concur with Dr. Turbott's views as to the necessity of maintaining a district nurse in the Matakaoa hospital district The secretary of the Cape Runaway Dog Trial Club wrote requesting that liis club's cheque for £SO towards the abandoned district nurse's cottage should be returned. —The secretary advised that the cheque had already been returned. After the reading of tht medical super. intendent's report, the chairman concurred with Dr. Gurr's recommendations as to the necessity for buying supplies in a more economical way, and after discussion, it was resolved that tenders should be invited for consideration at the next meeting for all .ordinary requirements of the hospital. Accounts amounting to £272 8s 7d were passed for payment.
