A MODERATE RAINFALL Despite the showery weather of the last fortnight in March the rainfall for the month was considerably less than the average, and less than half that of March last year. Rain fell on 13 days during the month, the aggregate fall being 3.24 in. The heaviest fall on any one day was on March 21, when 99 points was registered. The wettest March on record in 50 years was in 1880, when the abnormal total,of 16.95 in. was recorded, rain falling on 20 days, while the driest month was in 1878," when only 23 points fell on four days.
