VISIT TO EAST COAST V On a.brief and somewhat harried visit to the East Coast, the Minister oi Health, the Hon. A. J. Stalhvorthy. arrived in Gisborne last evening, accompanied by Mrs. Stallworthy and his daughter. The principal object of the / Minister’s visit is to enable him to ob ■' tain first-hand information in connection with the proposal to close the Tonga Bay Hospital and to discuss the matter with the Cook Hospital Board and the Tolaga Bay residents who are opposing the closing of the institution. Accordingly, Mr. Stallworthy, accompanied by Mr. W. G. Sherratt, chairman of the Cook Hospital Board, left for Tolaga Bay this morning, whence he was to proceed to Te Puia Springs to inspect the hospital there’and to meet members of the Waiapu Hospital Board, who, it is understood, wished to confer with the Minister in connection with a proposal for certain additions to tiic hospital buildings. # Upon his return to town this evening the Minister will be met at the Borough Council Chambers by members of the Hospital Board at 7.30 o’clock and will then have information in connection with the Tolaga Bay Hospital placed before him.
