EASTER TOURNEY CUP ROUND RESULTS Further progress in the Poverty Bay Golf Club's Easter tourney was made on Saturday afternoon, when'the first round of the tournament proper was played, as distinct from the qualifying round, which was disposed of on Saturday morning. There was a good attendance of members during the afternoon, and though the weather was not entirely propitious, some good golf was seen on the course. Results of. the first cup round matches were as follows:—L. Balfour heat G. H. 'Seddon 2 and 1; 'A. F. Salmon beat J. G. Thompson 4 and 2; J. S. Dobbie beat J. IT. Bull 7 and 6; EL Jenkinson beat W. Fisher 3 and 2; G. Willock beat J. Barns-Graham 6 and 5; A. G. Lancaster heat E. Barker 3 and 2; E. Ross beat J. Kay S and 4; R. E. Gambrill beat J. S. Barns-Graham 3 and 2. For to-day's bogey match, for those who failed to qualify for the Easter Crip tourney and also those who were eliminated in the first-round games, the drawMas as under: G. H. Seddon v. C. H. Bull; J. S. Thompson v. F. IT. Galvin; J. H. Bull v. R. Dobson; 0. 0. Hansen v- R- Barker; S. P. dare v. J. S. BarnsGraham ; F. Foote v. R. TJ. Burke; J. Barns-Graham v. R. Edwards; T. J. Nirnroonds v. L. G. Evans.
It was expected that the second and third rounds of the cup tourney would be played out to-day, and that the final will bo the principal attraction to-mor-row.
THE NEW PROFESSIONAL To act as professional for the club, the executive of the Poverty Bay Golf Club has engaged Mr. J. Mowat, a Scot, whoso experience has included a period of eight years in America. Mr. Mowat is a veteran of the Great War, but is still a young man, and. his interview with the club executive was l regarded as most satisfactory. He has just arrived in New Zealand, and will settle immedi ately at Gisborne.

WELLINGTON CHAMPIONSHIPS r **«v Preen Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. H. A. Black headed the qualifying list in the Wellington provincial golf championships with 146 aggregate for two rounds. A. D. S. Duncan was second with 151. AUCKLAND TOURNAMENT
(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. In the qualifying round of the Auckland provincial golf championship, Sloan Morpeth, New Zealand open champion, headed the list with 102. Among others who qualified were: E. L. Barlect, Now Zealand tennis champion, 107, and H. B. Lusk 171.
