LAND SUBDIVISION

MEETING THE HTCNGEK HAWKE'S BAY SUBDIVISIONS Subdivision of at least two large estates' into smaller farm holdings is being arranged for in Hawko's Bay, announces the Napier Telegraph. It will be recollected that when six sections were offered by the Government for settlement at WainiaTama recently over 1200 applications were received and efforts to meet the evident "land hunger" were considered. During the visit, to Napier of the Minister of Lands, the Hon. G. W. Forbes, Mr. W. E. Barnard, JO?., urged that the Government should take the matter in hand and suggested that the Maraekakaho estate, near Hastings, owned by the late Sir Douglas McLean, was one suitable for subdivision.

Mr. Barnard stated recently that lie had roecived advice that the trustees of the estate are actively engaged in taking the preliminary steps towards j-übdivision of the estate, which is to be offered in suitable areas at upsets estimated on the productive value, and on reasonable terms of payment. It is understood that the arrangements for the offering of the subdivisions will be -well under way by the end of the present year. It has also been announced that 600 acres of the Karnura estate of the late Hon. J. D. Ormond is to be cut up into suitable farming areas by the trustees and offered for selectionThe land is situated about a mile along the Omaha road in the direction of Fernliill.
