The Post Office Department operations last'year resulted in a loss of £230.663. Working expenses increased bv .£617.0?/!, or 5.91 per cent., totalling £11,028.632, while (he earnings were greater by o.'i'.l per cent. The postal branch showed a profit, but telegraphs worked at. a loss. Increases in salaries 'and superannuation were, practically responsible for the department’s unfavorable balance-sheet..
