Captain R. Bulge, M.C., who recently left Gisborne on transfer to Wellington, has been appointed tq a position at Trentham with the N?Z. Ordnance Corps.
Sub-Inspector Fitzpatrick has arrived at Greymouth from Christchurch. He will fill the position of inspector at Greymouth pending the appointment of a. successor to Inspector J. A. Matthew, who has retired.
Mr F. A. Bates, M.A., headmaster of the Hawera Main School, has been promoted to the position of inspector of schools, and is to commence his new duties as from the beginning of May in a district yet to be announced. The Prince of Wales and Prince George, unknown to each other, attended a talking film performance in London, and were greatly surprised when they met afterwards outside the theatre. They enjoyed the performance.
Bear-Admiral Kerr, who is going to Australia in August, is described by an Australian press correspondent as a keen eyed, dark, slim personality, who manifested great interest in his new job. He spoke enthusiastically concerning his early days, when he was on the Australian and New' Zealand stations aboard the gunboat Platypus. “We were fitted out at Sydney and what I saw impressed me that the time was not far distant when real national greatness would be achieved. That has now materialised and I am intensely interested to see the results of the phenomenal advancement which has occurred since my visit. I know I shall enjoy my work and hope mutual benefit will result.”
