CRUISING RAILWAY OAR
NEW DEPARTURE FOR N.Z. A new departure in travel has been introduced by Ibe Railway Department 'in the form'of a de luxe, cruising car. Vhis vehicle which was designed by Mr <;. S. I.ynde, chief mechanical engineer to the department, is both longer and wider than the ordinary railway carriage, and is lifted with every possible device lo make travel comfortable for those by, whom it is chartered. There are l'i nr two-berth cabins, fitted with built-in wardrobes,, full-length and smaller mirrors and other modern conveniences, and an especially-appointed lounge. .An elaborate system of electric lighting has been installed. Meals are served by special attendants attached to Ihe travelling parly. On ihe present occasion the car de luxe is under charter lo .Mr .1. (.'. iehl. ill Kngland, who is travelling with a party of five. Mi', (loold arrived at Wellington bv Hie Tahiti on Mem day. and left oil Friday by special motor ears for Wailomo, The, party will join the train again at To Kiiili and proceed do I! •( irua, and theme to Auckland where Mr Ooold is to connect with the Niagara. The car was attached to the mail train en rente to To Kuili.
