LABOR IN AUSTRALIA
TURNING FROM THE REDS SYDNEY, Jan. 25. The decision of the A.W.U". to cable congratulations to the British Labor Party on its rout of tho Reds (says the Sun) is at once a .tremendous setback to the extremists in Labor's Commonwealth fold, and a fillip for the good of the movement generally. Thoughtful citizens will perceive in it, with pleasure and not a little relief, that a large body of Australian Labor has not lost its mental balance, or, if it had been lost, that it has been recovered. The action of the A.W.U. brings us appreciably nearer to what Australia badly needs—an Australian Party.
