The Premier, Mr. Butler, states that the prices submitted by New South ’Wales colliery owners were not acceptable owing to the insutlicieut reduction m the price. The Government did not desire to secure supplies outside of Australia, but would obtain slocks a.s required for a short time in the hope that the collieries would be able to arrange a reduction of price, and also that the New Snath Wales Government might assist by lowering the rail freight, rovalties, and harbor dues.
