The Senate to-day passed -Iho Bill authorising the const ruction of cruisers and one aeroplane carrier. The vote was passed l>v 611 to 12. President Coolidgc lias asked that the. decision of the time for the beginning of construction be left with the President, but the Hill provides only that he may suspend operations in whole or part at any time if an international agreement tor arms limitation is reached. The measure was approved a yeti' ago by the House, and must be returned there for consideration of minor amendments before it is se.nl to the President. The Senate, previous to Tuesday, bad refused to decrease the number of cruisers to nine or increase .the aircraft camels to three, as proposed in amendments.
