MATAWHEEO STOCK SALE The weekly stock sale under the auspices of the Poverty Bay Stockbrokers’ Association was held to-day at. Matawliero. Store sheep: There was a large yarding of store, sheep. Several good sized lines of station ewes came forward, generally being in good condition. Up to the luncheon adjournment 4020 store sheep had been offered, though the market was easier. Four, six, and eight tooth ewes made 16s, while two 2-th ewes sold for £1 6s 9d. Forward old owes brought 17s 7d. Five and six year ewes, in gqod condition, were passed at 19s 6d. Down-cross lambs went to 18s 6d, and big woolly lambs 18s 4d. Well grown 2-th wethers, in good order, made £1 6s 3d. Ninety ewes, fairly good order, 14s 1 Id; 66 mixed ewes, good store condition (p) 17s; 498 ewes, 4. 6, and 8-th. from Paparatu, £1 6s; 132 2-th ewes, good order, an even fairsized lot, £1 6s 9<l: 72 4th ewes, fair condition, £1 3s Id; 146 fair conditioned ewes (p) £1 2s 9r]; 128 ewes, late shorn, plain condition, £1 7s 6d: 259 good lyamed ewes, forward, 17s 3d; 75 2-th owes, average size (p), £1 3s 6d; 40 big and forward ewes, 17s 7d ; 500 from Fuhatikotiko, 5 and 6-yr, good ewes, £1 Is 6<l; 645 ewes, from Tnngihanga, 5 and 6-yr, big and in good order (p), 19s 6d; 58 Hihuroa, 4 and 6-th, in fair condition, £1 Is 3d; 413 from Paparatu, 6-yr ewes (p), 17s; 61. 2-th wethers (p), £1 4s: 113 2-th wethers, good condition, fair size (p), £1 4s; 83 2-th, many small (p), £1 2s ; £35 2-th wethers, wolf grown (p). £1 5s 3d; 27 lambs, well-grown and woolly (p), 17s 4d; 56 do., well-grown and forward. 16s 9d ; 45 big woolly lambs, 18s 4d; 55 Down cross lambs, well grown, 18s 6d; 83 Down cross lambs, fairly good lot . 1.75. Fat sbee|>: The entry totalled 327, and there was good competition throughout, prices being similar to those ruling lately. Two tooth ewes made 23s 2d; ewes of ordinary ivpe up to 21s 3d; lambs to 275, 24s 3d, and 225. A single wether made 30s 3d. LONDON WOOL AUCTIONS Dalgcly and Co. have received the following cable message from their head office, London, dated 30th ulto: ‘‘London wool sales': lho wool sales closed with brisk competition, for mos. descriptions. Continental buyers were the principal operators, and Oennany, Russia and France rather quiet. Home trade bought fairly freely, espeaally crossbreds. As compared with the closing rates of last series, scoured merino was lid to 2d lower, except medium pieces; short pieces, par to lid lower; greasy merino, Id lower; greasy half Tired. Td to Id: greasy crossbred, lino. Id lower, fully; greasy crossbred, medium and coarse, ’ld lower : scoured, par to rather lower; siipe, unchanged; greasy lambs, unchanged. There were 102,000 bales catalogued, of which 82,000 bales were sold. The Continent bought 49,000 bales, the home trade 31,000 bales, and America 2000 hales; carried forward 16,000 hales, of which 4000 bales were not offered.
