No doubt many people passing along tho Hutt road end of the Tawa I lat railway deviation have noticed the huge steel girders being assembled on the roadside and have wondered by what means they will be placed in position (remarks the Dominion). Some of these girders, which are for the purpose of carrying the railway line over the roadway, are 66ft in length and weigh anything up to 33 tons. To place them ill position a steam winch, together with a system of pulleys, will be used, and the railway authorities anticipate having no trouble in handling them.
