LAWN TENNIS
ASSOCIATION TOURNEY , DRYING OUT THE COURTS No play was possible this morning in the Poverty Bay and East Coast Association's tennis tournament, owing to the condition of the 'courts after last night's ram. The grass was fairly dry, but the back lines of each court, where the grass has 'been worn down during recent weeks, were inclined to be slippery. In view of the fact that the association has the loan of the Gisborne Club's courts for the tourney, it was decided this morning to delay the resumption of play until the ground conditions had improved, and the danger of damage to the courts was minimised. It was anticipated that by noon today the courts would be ready for play, and consequently the fixtures set down for this morning at 9 o'clock were deferred until midday.
