Mr. Booth, of Wairoa, while out assisting in this month's herd testing, was riding his motor cycle when a dog rushed out at him, and in trying to avoid the animal tho motor cyclist skidded. Mr. Booth was thrown heavily to the ground, but escaped with nothing worse than a severe shaking and bruises. Mr. and Mrs. Begley, of Omana settlement, spent Christmas holidays at Hastings at Mr. Begley's former home.— Mrs. McKee, sen., and Miss McKee, now of Cambridge, are to spend a few days with Mr. and Mrs. T. McKee, of Omana- settlement. —Miss Kent, of Moumoukai, has returned home for the holidays.—Messrs. J. Bowie and Gordon Shaw left yesterday for Dunedin. —Mr. and Mrs. H. Landrekin, of Wairoa, and Mr. and Mrs. J. Wilkinson, of Kaiti, are spending Christmas at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Whitmore, Tangitere.— Messrs. N. Banks and H. D. Carver, of the Wanganui collegiate staff, have been camping on Mr. Tait's property in the course of a long holiday tour.—Three neices of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Porter, the Misses Lucas, are to spend their vacation at tho manse at Morere.—Mr. and Mrs. Win. Stokes, of Morere, were in Napier for Christmas.—Mr. J. Boyle, of Waikaremoana, spent Christinas with his brother at Nuhaka. —Mr. de Castro. nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Eames, of Nuhaka, with Mrs. do Castro and family, is visiting his relatives at Nuhaka, and will later proceed to Gisborne; Mr. and Mrs. de Castro and family are about to make a round-the-world tour.—Messrs. L. A. Hibbard. W. J. Craig, and W. M. Hallam, of Wanganui,'are camping at Morere, and will proceed to Gisborne on a round trip through Rotorua and Taupo Mr. and Mrs. J. Witty and Miss Witty, of Gisborne, and Miami Mrs. W. Illric Smith, of Whakarau. are enjoying the camping season at Morere. —A large family camp is located south of the springs, comprising Mr. and Mrs. P. G. Bacon, Mr. and Mrs. P. E. Bacon, and Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Bacon, and Mr. J. W. Bacon.—Mr. and Mrs.' Thane, of Te Puia. camped at Morere during Christmas. Mr. Blnck. of Morere. has thrown his paddocks open for the free use of campers, and as there is an abundance of sha.de his action will be much appreciated by the touring public. Sister May's Tahuna Sunday school treat proved a great success, and was thoroughly enjoyed hv the children. Large crowds assembled at Opoutnma on Boxing Dav when under the presidency of the Rev, VV. P. Milne, the Wairoa Presbyterian Sunday, school enjoyed a gala day. For this outing (ho train was engaged, and the function p'O'ed a great success. The vvatersidors' picnic held on Boxing Dav at Opoutama, also drew large crowds, and was a. very successful and hapoy gathering.
